3 Tips for an Amazing Fall Vacation at Our Smoky Mountain TN Cabin Rentals
Fall is one of the very best time for a vacation in Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains! The autumn brings a majestic display of foliage, comfortable weather, and some of the year’s most popular events. To help you make the most of your getaway, we have put together the following tips for staying at our Smoky Mountain TN cabin rentals this fall:
1. Don’t Miss The Changing Leaves
Of course, if you are going to be visiting the Smokies this fall, you will want to coordinate your trip with the changing of the leaves. With over 100 species of native trees, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers some of the best fall foliage in the nation. Visitors will enjoy leaves of every shade of red, yellow, and orange.
While the leaves change at different times each year due to varying weather patterns, there are some general guidelines to keep in mind when planning your trip. Typically, the leaves are at their most vibrant in the lower elevations of the mountains around the last two weeks of October into the first week of November. This is known as “peak season”.
If you can’t visit during peak season, don’t panic! You can still see the leaves earlier in the season, around late September and the beginning of October. However, you will need to visit the highest elevations of the mountains to do so. For instance, Clingmans Dome is one of the best spots to see breathtaking panoramas of the fall colors in the mountains during this period.
For the most up to date information on the status of the leaves, check out the National Park Service’s Fall Color Report.

2. Enjoy Dollywood’s National Southern Gospel & Harvest Celebration
Every October, Dollywood hosts one of its most popular festivals! Throughout the month, visitors to the theme park will enjoy the National Southern Gospel & Harvest Celebration, which features over 350 concerts from some of the biggest names in southern gospel music. Musicians who frequent Dollywood’s Harvest Celebration include Guy Penrod, The Booth Brothers, Karen Peck & New River, and The Isaacs. All of the gospel performances are completely free with park admission, so if you have a season pass to Dollywood, you can hear some amazing music all month long!
In addition to all of the great gospel musicians, Dollywood also welcomes over 40 artisans to the theme park for the Harvest Celebration. These talented craftspeople will be situated in booths around the theme park, where they will demonstrate their trade and sell their wares. Guests will have the chance to purchase a variety of handcrafted souvenirs, including paintings, chainsaw carvings, natural stone jewelry, dolls, games, flutes, dulcimers, and so much more.
3. Stay at a Cabin with Mountain Views
When you visit the Smokies this fall, you will want a cabin with breathtaking views of the changing leaves in the mountains. Fortunately, Smoky Mountain Chalet Rentals has a number of properties that fit the bill! There is nothing better than sitting out in a rocking chair or in a bubbly hot tub and admiring the majestic fall foliage all around you.
